During the second leg of his “20 Years In One Night” tour, Kirk Franklin carried one of the show traditions to Jacksonville, FL where he tapped a few singers from the audience to help him sing “Intercession” off his 2015 album Losing My Religion. JoJo Martin was amongst that group.
The moment has always been special, but stood out this time when JoJo allowed the song lyrics to speak for his struggle with kidney failure. Before breaking down into tears, he revealed his need for God during his next-day dialysis appointment.
Franklin hopped in and paused the shouting audience to say, “I do not want to emotionalize a moment that really needs the presence of God,” and asked them to stretch their hands and pray a silent prayer for JoJo (see below).

JoJo recently inked a deal with Maroon 5’s PJ Morton under Morton’s new “Morton Records” label and he wasn’t a random find.
“JoJo has sung background for me and toured with me for ten plus years,” Morton says. “His support over the years not only to me but the likes of Fred Hammond has been amazing. I’m excited for the masses to hear what I’ve been fortunate to hear for years. JoJo’s voice is truly special.”
