Sammy Sas: Pls can we meet you?
Unachi Sunday: My name is Unachi Sunday. A native of idoma from Benue state Nigeria.
Sammy Sas: Tell us how was growing up like?
Unachi Sunday: Well not a part I usually like to talk about. But interesting.
Sammy Sas: What is “Unachi Sunday” known for?
Unachi Sunday: Hehehehe, this is jamb question. I am a man of many things. But definitely centers around entertainment, brand development and promotion, sales and marketing.
Sammy Sas: What’s your Target market? Gospel or the secular industry?
Unachi Sunday: My response on this might not go well with a lot of persons. As a brand strategist I am concerned with contents with positive lyrics. I am yet to fully understand why we are boxed with a name. My market basically is getting quality music content to those who need them. But certainly content with positive message.
Sammy Sas: I understand you own a popular Nigerian Gospel site, so what was the motive or vision behind it?
Unachi Sunday: Well if you say its popular I won’t agree less. We started up some few years back seeing the need to bridge the gap. Then you go online to search for gospel content you can hardly get one. We are forced to go look for the CD. This birthed our platform. And the vision is to spread/serve 100% Nigerian content to the world. Today you can within seconds find your choice artiste online. I must as well commend other comrades doing this with us.
Sammy Sas: So what’s the name of the site again?
Unachi Sunday: We run two sites NaijaGospelBeats & XtremGospel
Sammy Sas: Awesome!
Sammy Sas: So tell us with your experience so far, what do you think is the major challenge in the Nigerian Gospel entertainment industry?
Unachi Sunday: Major if I lift your word is lack of unity and pride.
Unachi Sunday: Permit me not to speak much on this.
Sammy Sas: So you agree that there is a high level of pride, displayed among Gospel musicians and stakeholders?
Unachi Sunday: Yes, although not applicable to all. A lot still have very high level of humility.
Sammy Sas: Yea true that!
Sammy Sas: Tell us with the new set of musicians coming out of the Gospel industry in the Nigeria, do you see the Nigerian Gospel musicians going as far as the Grammy’s, some day?
Unachi Sunday: To be very honest. I see a great future for the industry. The artiste are really working hard. The quality of music we hear today speaks volume that in a no distant time we will take the centre stage and bring Grammy’s home. I must commend all the hard working artiste.
Sammy Sas: Lovely
Sammy Sas: So who are your top three favourite gospel artiste, both local and international?
Unachi Sunday: As an ardent music lover, critic I really do have an array of great artiste but I’d like to put it strictly naija. I consider some factors ooo. On the part of the artiste, his/her writing skills, voice power lol, depth etc. Then production, mix and mastering. So let’s say in no special order Elijah Oyelade, Onos, Samsong

Unachi Sunday: Yes I do.

Sammy Sas: Who do you listen to when it comes to ministry?
Unachi Sunday: I do have a couple. Pst Dr Paul Enenche, Pst Joseph Prince, Rev. Sam Oye and Pst Obi Ekwueme.
Sammy Sas: What’s your advice to aspiring Gospel musicians and kingdom entrepreneurs?
Unachi Sunday: Artiste should be willing to learn, study, learn new skills, be teachable and submissive. To entrepreneurs we all have to work with the artiste and build an understanding that this is ministry and there is industry. If we can understand this, one can boldly invest. We need to help the artiste make money from their craft. Every workman deserves his wages. Artiste build a team of those who understands first your purpose and passion. Money and fame should be the last thing but then be business oriented.
